Frequently Asked Questions
Backyard Music Co. partners with homeowners to host intimate, Nashville-style acoustic concerts in their backyards. Our unique community-funded model allows hosts to organize these events at no cost to themselves. Instead, your friends and neighbors purchase passes to cover the event’s costs, giving you the chance to host a private concert without any financial burden. These events are invite-only, creating an exclusive and intimate experience for your community.
Ideal hosts are community-minded individuals who enjoy bringing people together and have strong connections with their neighbors. You don’t need a huge backyard, just a space that can comfortably fit 30-150 guests, depending on the event tier.
To become a host, simply apply through our website. Once your application is reviewed and accepted, you’ll be able to schedule your event, access your host dashboard, and start inviting your community.
Backyards of various sizes are suitable! As long as you have space to comfortably fit 30 guests or more, your backyard can be transformed into a concert venue. There’s no need for a fancy or elaborate setup.
Events should be scheduled at least one month in advance. This gives us enough time to book artists, provide promotional materials, and ensure everything is ready for a successful event.
Rising songwriters are matched to your event based on the number of passes sold and the event tier. All events follow a Nashville-style acoustic format, ensuring a consistent, intimate experience for your guests.
Backyard Music Co. handles the artist booking, ticketing (pass sales), and provides promotional tools. You’ll have access to your host dashboard to track sales, manage the guest list, and receive ongoing support from our team to make sure everything runs smoothly.
Our events are rain or shine, however we still recommend having a backup plan, such as an indoor space, in case of extreme weather. If an alternative space isn’t available, we will work with you to reschedule the event.
Once passes are sold, you cannot cancel or reschedule unless it’s an approved emergency. If no passes have been sold, you may be able to change the date, but we encourage planning in advance to avoid any issues.
Hosts are responsible for ensuring a safe environment for their guests. Backyard Music Co. is not liable for accidents or injuries during the event. Most hosts do not purchase event insurance as these events are private and mostly people you know personally.
Passes are purchased by your guests through our platform. We manage the sales, and you can track pass purchases in real time through your host dashboard.
Thanks to our community-funded model, there are no costs for you as a host. Your friends and neighbors purchase passes to cover the costs of the event. All you need to provide is a basic power source (an outlet, extension cord, and power bar) and optional lighting for the evening.
Guests typically use the homeowner’s bathroom. For larger events, you may consider renting portable restrooms if needed, but this is completely optional.
Not at all! You don’t need a fancy home. The event is all about creating an intimate, welcoming atmosphere, so any backyard that can comfortably fit guests is ideal.
Artists are paid from the proceeds of the pass sales. They can also sell merchandise and accept tips during the event, giving your guests additional ways to support them.
There is no limit! You’re welcome to host multiple events throughout the year as long as they meet our guidelines.
Our events focus on acoustic performances with genres such as country, folk, pop, and more. All events follow the intimate, storytelling-driven format of a Nashville-style listening room.
